Aishwarya Rai speaks Tamil at audio release
The fabulous occasion was the audio launch of the Tamil film ‘Irettaisuzhi’ produced by Shankar, and for which the music was composed by Karthik Raja. The audience had a sweet surprise for two reasons. Firstly, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a rare appearance, because the busy actress normally do not attend music launches, and secondly, the audience was taken for an unexpected surprise as Rai spoke in flawless Tamil at the music launch.
The audio cassettes and CDs of ' Irettaisuzhi' were released by Aishwarya and accepted by acclaimed lyricist Vairamuthu. As to her proficiency in languages, Aishwarya Rai communicates in several languages including Tamil, Hindi, English, Marathi, and her mother tongue Tulu, as she is originally from Mangalore, Karnataka.
Shankar is the director of the film, 'Endhiran: The Robot', in which he is directing her opposite superstar Rajnikanth. He said it was great to have Aishwarya at the audio launch, and added that the she was not present for the launch of his 'Jeans', which was one of her first hit films.
Rai said that she was proud to be part of the Tamil film industry and from Tamil she switched over to English, “It's an honour for me to have been present at this place among legends like Balachander and Bharathiraaja and I feel proud about it. I also feel happy that a woman is treated so respectfully at a public function like this.”
Rai continued, “I can never forget the Tamil film industry and director Shankar in my life. Shankar's 'Jeans' was my first successful film. The many things I learnt during the making of the film gave me enough self-confidence that I could continue to act for a few more years… I feel even more proud to be part of Shankar's 'Endhiran' opposite superstar Rajnikanth... I watched a few songs and some sequences from 'Rettaichuzhi'... I think Karthick Raaja's music and tunes are excellent. I would surely watch the film in future.”
Rai was at her courteous best at Sathyam Cinemas on Monday evening as she greeted veteran directors K. Balachander and Bharathiraaja, who also act in the film (K. Balachander as Ramaswamy and Bharathiraja as Singaravelan) in lead roles along with Anjali, Manobala, Karunas, Ilavarasu, Jayachitra, and Malayalam film actor and screenplay writer Sreenivasan.
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan wallpaper #m1
Vidya Balan’s performance in the film ‘Paa’ was highly acclaimed and won her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Her next release, Ishqiya, in which she played a plotting, crafty widow Krishna, who is staying alone in her old house, also got excellent reviews. Her project entitled Chenab Gandhi directed by Vibhu Puri reportedly features Amitabh Bachchan, Rajeev Khandelwal and centers on Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and it is under production. Also, director Nikhil Advani has announced in late January 2009 that he is to work with Vidya, in a film titled Chand Bhai and Akshay Kumar will be her co-star. Balan will also star in UTV's No One Killed Jessica alongside Rani Mukherjee, reports say.
Shweta Bhardwaj ready to do anything for success
I was surprised to read the headline, “I will do anything for success”, with the same photo in this wallpaper (click to enlarge) of the model and actress Shweta Bhardwaj, in HT City. The actress debuted in the film ‘Mission Istaanbul’, the 2008 action film starring herself, Vivek Oberoi, Zayed Khan and Shriya Saran, co-produced by Suniel Shetty as a Lara Croft type of character. Now she is all set to don 62 distinct looks in a French film, probably a world record for any actor or actress from anywhere in the world. Seemingly the actress did not have high-profile offers ever since from Bollywood or other Indian film industries, as it is reported, ‘while she got Rs 11,000 for a Hindi film, for the French film, she has been paid a whopping Rs 50 lakh’. “Bollywood doesn’t pay newcomers. I got Rs 25-32 lakh for doing two films down South. Now, I have a house worth Rs 3 crore, four cars and a steady bank balance,” she told HT.
“I will do anything to get there, anything,” the paper quotes her, and continues, “I have no intentions of getting married since I am way too ambitious. I can compromise on anything under the sun, except my character. But that’s not to say I’m a virgin.”
She may be too determined to achieve success of the top order in her film career, but she is too bold to declare to which extent she is ready to go for achieving her goals. It also sends wrong signals as to what she wants to achieve, fame, money, or excellence as an actress, as also about the cost of such achievements. Her statement above is just like her balance sheet (Income and Expenditure Account, rather) and leaves a big gap and fails to explain how she could earn a house worth Rs 3 crore, four cars and a steady bank balance! Any ideas?
